Jay-Z May Not Meet Requirements To Be NFL Agent

There may be a snag is Jay-Z's plans to represent professional athletes as a sports agent.  Just days after applying to become an MLB-certified agent, "SportsBusiness Journal" reports that the Roc Nation Sports founder also plans to submit paperwork to the NFL's Players Association to become an NFL-certified agent.  However, Jay-Z's application could be denied because the rapper does not have a college degree.  The NFLPA apparently requires agents to have not only an undergraduate degree, but also a postgraduate degree, neither of which Jay-Z has.  The NFLPA does make exceptions for people without postgraduate degrees if they have at least seven years of "sufficient negotiating experience," but on the NFLPA website there are no listed exceptions for those who don't have an undergrad degree.

Even if Jay-Z's application to represent NFL players is turned down, he will still be able to get players endorsement deals and other off-field ventures.  However, he will not be able to recruit players to Roc Nation Sports or its partner Creative Arts Agency.
