Texas Coach Mack Brown May Step Down After Alamo Bowl

Mack Brown is expected to step down as head coach of the University of Texas after the Alamo Bowl, according to OrangeBloods.com.

Brown joined the Longhorns in 1998.  He led the team to their first national championship in 35 years back in 2006.

A source tells OrangeBloods.com, "Mack Brown loves Texas and wants what's in the best interest of Texas and what's in the best interest of Mack Brown...I don't think it's been an easy decision. But he doesn't want negativity around the program he helped unify."

In addition to the national championship, Brown led Texas to 9 straight 10-win seasons from 2001 to 2009.
