Journey guitarist Neal Schon is offering a preview of his upcoming solo album, So U. He debuted the video to "What You Want."

Schon teamed up with Journey drummer Deen Castronovo and Thin Lizzy bassist Marco Mendoza to record "What You Want," which he describes as "cool," "funky," and "rockin'."

Neal tells he particularly likes the vocal arrangement,  He explains that he "wanted to kind of do the Sly Stone thing," with him, Deen, and Marco switching off between the high and low harmonies, so it's "sort of pinballing around."

"What You Want" is one of several tracks Schon wrote with Jack Blades.  Neal says he wanted to collaborate with the Night Ranger frontman because he "had the opening riff floating around" in his head, and he and Blades "write very quickly."

Schon's So U will be released May 19th.
