Mumford and Sons frontman Marcus Mumford is helping T Bone Burnett finish a new set of Bob Dylan songs.

The British folk-rocker is part of an all-star group assembled by the legendary producer to complete and record a collection of unused Dylan lyrics.  Elvis Costello, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, and others have also been charged with adding music to the original material, which dates back to Dylan's 1967 Basement Tapes sessions with The Band.  They're working on the project collaboratively, with one artist taking the lead on a song and everyone else providing suggestions along with backing vocals and instruments.  And Burnett makes it clear that these are not "B-level Dylan lyrics," telling the Los Angeles Times that they're just songs Bob "never got around to finishing."

The sessions are also being filmed for an upcoming Showtime documentary.  The album Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes is expected to arrive in stores this fall, with the premiere of Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued airing in conjunction with the release.
