Metallica performs in Antarctica

Listen to Metallica on iHeartRadio

Metallica has now done what no other rock band has ever done before.

On Sunday they performed in Antarctica to become first group to play a show on every continent on Earth.  Metallica played the unique show in a unique way - without amplification.

Billboard.com says the band played an hour long, ten-song set with their amps sealed away in isolation cabinets, and their audience of 120 fans heard the music through headphones.  The setup was designed to adhere to protect the environment, and followed international protocol.

Metallica's set included the classics "Master of Puppets," "Enter Sandman," and "One."  Metallica also planned to tape their show to share it with the rest of the world at some future date.
