Lack of a permanent frontman didn't stop the Stone Temple Pilots from taking the stage at this weekend's KROQ Weenie Roast. Linkin Park's Chester Bennington filled in for former leader Scott Weiland at the Los Angeles concert event on Saturday.
Bennington explained in a statement that he's been an STP fan since he was 13-years-old, and he "jumped at the chance" to do something creative with them. That something creative also included recording the new single "Out of Time" with the band. But both Chester and Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo tell fans that Linkin Park will always be Bennington's first priority, and their collaboration was just something "cool" they all wanted to try.
Despite this detour, Bennington says he's also currently working on new Linkin Park music. Stone Temple Pilots, meanwhile, have yet to confirm if or when the follow-up to "Out of Time" might be released. For now, fans can download the single for free at StoneTemplePilots.com.
