Get a glimpse of the iconic bands that light up historical film 'CBGB'

(Yahoo!) - Few music fans are ignorant of how famed New York City club CBGB earned its particular badge in music history, but for those who were never able to visit it (the venue closed in 2006), a new film seeks to bring the story of the venue to life.

Originally conceived as a place to house country, bluegrass, and blues (hence the acronym "CBGB"), the founder of the club, Hilly Krystal, found himself booking a host of up-and-coming punk and rock bands - inadvertently creating a forum for some of which would become the most iconic names in the music world, such as Blondie, the Ramones, Patti Smith, Television, Talking Heads, and many others.

In this first look at the biopic, Yahoo Music presents a glimpse at these bands, the songs that defined them, the punk scene as it existed in New York City back in the '70s...and also allows a look at the actors who so fittingly take on the roles!

CBGB will make its theatrical premiere at NYC's Sunshine Cinema on October 8; then will be shown at the CBGB Music & Film Festival in from October 9 through October 13. It will be nationally released in select theaters beginning October 11.
