Panel Recommends No Change To Controversial Florida Gun Law

Almost one year to the day after Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, a Florida panel is recommending no change to the state's controversial "Stand Your Ground" law.

The Task Force on Citizen Safety and Protection appointed by Governor Rick Scott submitted its final report saying it's a fundamental right for people to stand their ground and defend themselves. George Zimmerman says he was assaulted by the unarmed teen and shot and killed Martin in self-defense.

Zimmerman is facing a charge of second-degree murder and is scheduled to go on trial this summer.
