(NEWSER) – The mayor of Los Angeles today offered $1 million to anyone providing information leading to the arrest of ex-cop Christopher Dorner, the LA Times reports. "We will not tolerate anyone undermining the security of the community," said Antonio Villaraigosa at downtown LAPD headquarters. "We will not tolerate this reign of terror." Police Chief Charlie Beck called it the "largest local reward ever offered." Dorner, a fugitive since Thursday, is suspected of murdering three people and injuring two others.
Yesterday, Beck promised a new truck for the women shot by LAPD officers who mistook their vehicle for Dorner's, KTLA reports. Emma Hernandez, 71, and her daughter, Margie Carranza, 47, were wounded when officers fired on their blue Toyota Tacoma; a neighbor says police got off about 60 rounds. Now the mother and daughter have retained an attorney: "Police have a job to do,” he said. “But that job does not include street justice. It does not include execution."
