Out of those 138,000 units, 40,000 were vinyl LPs. That's the largest sales week for any vinyl album since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. White beat Pearl Jam's Vitalogy album, which sold 34,000 vinyl LPs when it was released. Vitalogy was released on vinyl two weeks before its CD release back in 1994.
Lazaretto sold almost as many copies on vinyl as it sold on CD. CD sales were 41,000.
The No. 1 album was White's second straight. His debut solo album also landed on top of the Billboard 200 chart. It also sold 138,000 units (actually slightly less than Lazaretto, but both albums land at 138,000 when you round to the nearest thousand).
