Set before the civil war, a German bounty hunter by the name of Dr. King Schultz (Christolph Waltz) searches for a specific slave with very specific knowledge. After an exhaustive search he finds this elusive knowledge with a slave known as Django (Jamie Foxx). Armed with his skills in reasoning and backed by his new comrade, Dr. Schultz takes off after the murderous Brittle Brothers.
Upon the completion of the bounty, Dr. Schultz comes up with a bargain for the now free Django. Ride with me as I collect bounties and I will work to help you free the love of your life. Through bullets and blood, Django fulfills his side of the bargain which leads him to his damsel Broomhilda (Kerry Washington).
Like most princesses she resides in a fortress of sort, deep in the heart of the South’s most infamous slave plantation known as "Candyland". This mini territory is led by Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), a devious man who enjoys many blood sports that mostly consist of slaves. With very few options, Dr. King and Django venture into this hellish reality in hopes of saving the woman and escaping with their necks intact.
This movie is nothing too serious unless you try to make it so. Quentin Tarantino's take on history is skewed by his vast imagination and the characters he creates. Sometimes laughable, mostly over-the-top, Django is an alternate reality with comedic timing a pretty catchy score.
