(Las Vegas, NV)  --  In case there was any doubt, Sunday night's Billboard Music Awards confirmed the fact that Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber have been two of the music world's most dominating forces this past year.

Both artists took home multiple awards at the Las Vegas ceremony, including Artist of the Year and Top Female Artist for Swift, and Top Male Artist for Bieber.  Justin also picked up the inaugural Milestone Award.  During his acceptance speech, he argued that his career isn't just a gimmick and people should start taking his "craft" seriously and stop talking about all the, quote, "bull."

Other Billboard Music Award winners included Nicki Minaj for Top Rap Artist and David Guetta for Top EDM Artist.  Carly Rae Jepsen's smash single "Call Me Maybe" was named Top Digital Song, and hip-hop newcomers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' chart-topper "Thrift Shop" won the Top Rap Song trophy.  Many of the winners weren't announced during the broadcast, including One Direction for Top New Artist and Gotye for Top Hot 100 Artist.

Madonna was there, however, to pick up the Top Touring Artist award.  After joking about the amount of her rear end the producers would allow her to reveal, the pop queen thanked all her fans for coming out to her shows and supporting her for the past three decades.

Another legendary performer, Prince, took the stage after being honored with this year's Icon Award for a ceremony-closing performance that started with a new take on his classic "Let's Go Crazy."  But Prince wasn't the only one entertaining the crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Sunday night.  Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Bruno Mars, Icona Pop, the Band Perry, Ed Sheeran, and many, many more also performed.  Tracy Morgan served as the emcee for the event, which was broadcast on ABC.
