Barry Manilow will finally get his one-man Broadway show going Tuesday night.
After calling off the first few shows due to a case of bronchitis he calls "the worst experience of my life," Barry posts on his website that he's "getting better" and "pretty sure I'll be ready to go on Tuesday night (unless I get hit by a truck!)."
Opening five days late, his Manilow on Broadway show will be a greatest-hits extravaganza. Radio favorites such as “I Write the Songs,” “Can’t Smile Without You,” “Ready to Take a Chance Again” and “Copacabana” will all be on the set-list. Barry tells the New York Post, he'd rehearsed such standards as “Dancing in the Dark” and “Give My Regards to Broadway” -- “but they all hit the floor. After all these years, I know what my audience wants, and it’s my job to give it to them. This is not an artistic Broadway show. But I know I’m right.”
